The cottage was really lovely and particularly the wildflower meadow they had outside provided some really nice views. Andrew was on hand with any queries we had quickly and was very helpful, then left us to it which we thought was nice. The area was beautiful- the loveliest countryside, Stamford town is pristine, really historic with some nice pubs and shops. We also visited Burghley Park, Rutland water park (recommend hiring a bike) and Barnsdale Gardens which were unbelievable. Couldn’t recommend it more for a couple of days away.
Beautifully decorated barn which had real character. We really enjoyed the log burning stove and the aga and free standing bath were also great features. The cottage was located in a village a car’s drive away from the picturesque town of Stamford. Near by was Burghley estate, where we enjoyed walking in the parklands and Rutland water.
Very impressed with the standard of everything from the comfortable bed to the comfortable sofa and throw. The warmth of the property and the lovely soft towels. Shower and bath both amazing! We enjoyed the log burner whilst cuddled up, overlooking nature and enjoying the peace and quiet. The broadband was also high speed so that kept my partner very happy. The record player was a lovely little touch with some candles lit whilst getting ready to go into the beautiful Stamford. Stamford was only about 10 minutes in a taxi so we got to enjoy the tourist side as well as some private peaceful time out. We took our own food and extras for self catering and the cottage had everything we needed to cook and clean, making it feel very homely. The owners communicated by text and were very welcoming and accommodating to any requests. The only negative was that our time in the cottage went too fast. We will definitely be coming back. What a treat!!!
The property is beautifully designed with everything you need for a peaceful relaxing getaway. Andrew was on hand for anything we needed and very friendly and gave us great advice on local places including a lovely pub! This cottage has been decorated with beautiful designs and styles and it is very well looked after, super clean and comfy. We particularly loved the huge comfy bed and the added bonus of having a smart tv in the lounge so we could quite literally relax away from our busy lives.
Pea cottage provided first class accommodation and is highly recommended if you’re planning a visit to the area and want to treat yourself. The location is rural and very peaceful (about a 15 min drive from the wonderful Georgian town of Stamford) allowing a wonderful nights sleep, helped by an enormous and extremely comfortable bed. Everywhere was spotless and all furnishings were of an excellent standard. A warm and homely base to go back to after a busy day’s sightseeing. Thank you Andrew.
Pea cottage is out of this world and even better than it looks in the pictures. Andrews attention to detail and willingness to help is second to none and yet totally unintrusive. He helped me make my fiancé’s birthday extra special and I simply can’t thank him enough. Genius attention to detail and the fantastic Prosecco trail make the stay fun and memorable. Thanks for a magical stay!
I’m pleased to say that despite reading the many rave reviews, my expectations of Andrew’s property were exceeded! The house is private, with an amazing view of an old oak and gorgeous, high quality fixtures and amenities – right down to the toiletries and fry pan in the kitchen. Perfect for a couple; we visited with our 9 week old daughter and were very comfortable. We’ve stayed in many AirBNBs around the world over the last 7 years and this was one of the best. Be sure to picnic in the grounds of Burghley House while you’re there!
Thank you for letting us stay in your cozy little Pea Cottage.
We totally love it and will be back!
Reuben and Jinny Stewart
Heavenly Retreat set in a lovely rural location away from any stresses of real life but close enough to still appreciate nightlife and retail therapy!
The Crystal maze game to win the bottle of Prosecco was a fun and lovely touch.
Perfect place to really unwind and chill listening to the record player and the birds singing.
Would definitely recommend pea cottage, and as it was raining for us all weekend (which didn’t impact the stay at all!) we will be coming back for a stay in the sun very soon! – Nothing to dislike here.
An incredibly well thought out and luxurious experience in Andrew and Janet’s lovely cottage. The beams, fireplace, and homey touches made it such a memorable stay. We loved the stylish bathroom, and everything was spotlessly clean. Ben linen and furniture was super comfortable and made sure we left very relaxed and invigorated. We highly recommend the suggested walk, using the direction cards, and really enjoyed playing prosecco crystal maze! Stamford is such a beautiful town to explore, and we had a lovely meal at Zadas. Thanks so much for having us- we’ll definitely be back!
I stayed at Andrews cottage for a weekend by myself in May. I was looking for a peaceful, comfortable place to rest and relax and this was absolutely spot on. It’s across the courtyard from Andrew’s farmhouse, set far back from the road so it’s very peaceful.
You have a great deal of privacy should you wish, with a private patio for having dinner outside etc and a view of green fields. Communication was excellent before and during, and Andrew stopped by to see if I needed anything which was appreciated.
It’s a lovely cottage. Clean, spacious, well designed and cosy. Wifi is good strength, so you can stream movies if you want to. There are thoughtful touches like chocolates on the pillows and guidebooks for the local area. It’s really just a very nice place to cook, sleep, read and unwind.
Nearby Stamford is a charming town just short drive away (about 15 minutes) with pubs, restaurants etc, and Burghley House has huge grounds to wander about with an interesting sculpture park to see, too. I loved it here and plan to stay again.
Really comfortable accommodation with a luxurious feel. It was fun to arrive to a treasure hunt and win the prosecco! Andrew the host was delightful and gave us complete privacy during our stay, we knew we could contact them if required. The crosley record player and records were a lovely touch. It was so pleasurable to relax on the comfy sofas and listen to music instead of watching TV! The host left excellent directions for Fred’s walk – a four mile country delight which we loved. We found plenty to do in the surrounding areas. Burghley House and Gardens were a treat and we hired bikes at Rutland waters and really enjoyed cycling around the water and stopping for a pub lunch. Stamford was a beautiful town and we enjoyed the blade of beef in the restaurant of the White Hart nearby. Facilities at Pea Cottage were excellent, with everything required to cook meals whilst there. The slipper bath flex luxurious to soak in. How wonderful to have a sofa each to stretch out on, and the bed was huge and so comfortable. I highly recommend this accommodation and would love to go back.
My husband and I journeyed throughout the English countryside for ten days and stayed in seven AIRBNBs and this was by far, the best of them all! Andrew’s home is very special. The attention to detail is outstanding. The space is designed with a sophisticated eye, making it not only beautiful but comfortable and relaxing. The house is super clean and the extra details did not go unnoticed. The backyard is surrounded by farmland and we enjoyed a glass of wine each night while laughing at the silky chickens take dust baths, and watching the baby lambs bounce and play. The location to Stamford and Peterborough is desirable with an easy commute. We highly recommend this vacation rental and we hope to stay again!
We just wanted to say thank you for a perfect start to our honeymoon. We loved every second, and the little treasure hunt for prosecco was such a wonderful touch. Your place is absolutely stunning and so cosy, we’ve even been recommending it to all our family to go and stay! We’ll definitely be back. Thank you for your hospitality, we really appreciated it.
We got here fine and the cottage is absolutely beautiful. It’s everything we wanted and was so nice to come in and relax after such a busy day at the wedding. We just discovered the crystal maze so plan to do that after breakfast!! Thanks so much for letting us rent your cottage, its the most perfect start to our honeymoon.
Not just a romantic retreat for couples! This Singleton has just had the most wonderful two nights in the most immaculate accommodation, the height of luxury and style surrounded by much needed peace & quiet. Highlights were the bath, the gorgeous bed complete with organic chocolate and the log burning stove complete with big comfortable sofa opposite. I arrived stressed, frazzled and overwhelmed and left two nights later well rested, inspired and with everything back in perspective. I will be back Andrew!
I arranged our stay at the cottage very last minute (about an hour before arriving) and literally could not of been more overwhelmed by this amazing property. The location is beautiful and you feel so totally nurtured by the way the owners have put so much love and thought into the interior design. The cottage exudes style, warmth (literally cosy as toast with aga, log burner and under floor heating) and such great attention to detail. Nothing was too much trouble and Andrew was just a text away to answer any questions if needed. Due to work commitments we were unable to stay longer but now we have found this truly idyllic retreat we will be back.
Lovely cottage all the interiors are well thought out and it’s very peaceful. Some nice walks right outside the door and both Stamford and Peterborough are lovely and close by. The cottage was lovely and warm and we were given plenty of wood for the fire. The prosecco challenge was a nice touch and the swing in the paddock was lovely.
We would definitely come back.
If you’ve ever owned an AGA, the wonderful smell of that heat greats you. Heaven. This is a lovely place and didn’t disappoint! Our favourite touch was the walk with little photos and we had a good laugh trying (and failing!) the treasure hunt. Sparkling clean, homely, stylish. Andrew is clearly thoughtful and a lovely chap!
I am almost loath to write this review as part of me wants to keep Pea Cottage a cosy little secret….however that seems a tad mean so let me extol it’s many virtues instead! All in all it is simply beautiful, from the peaceful setting aside the paddock to the exquisitely decorated interior. It is a little snapshot of heaven and we loved every minute of our time there & quite frankly we will have to go back as we were so reluctant to leave our little bolt hole for the weekend we didn’t explore the area anywhere near as much as we’d intended. Whilst we didn’t meet the owners they couldn’t have been more helpful in the run up to our stay & we felt nothing would have been too much trouble, all correspondence was conducted with a wonderful sense of humour which was an absolute breath of fresh air. Something that was reflected in the treasure hunt we found on our arrival, much fun was had retrieving our Prosecco from the locked chest….which was another good excuse not to leave the cottage! If you’re seeking some peace & quiet, somewhere to relax and unwind and feel very far away from the outside world then I can’t recommend this place highly enough, we can’t wait to come back and listen to the owls, swing under the oak tree and cosy up with a mug of cocoa!
We loved everything about Pea Cottage, it was comfy, cosy, beautifully decorated, a veritable haven of peace and quiet to get away from it all for a weekend! It was immaculately clean, well equipped and although we didn’t cross paths with the owners they couldn’t have been more helpful in the run up to our stay answering questions and providing all the necessary instructions. We can’t wait to come back!
What a beautiful place! This gorgeous home is a perfect getaway for a romantic weekend. We loved the treasure hunt (thank you!) and the little added extras; they made our stay even more special. During our visit, we enjoyed a walk to the White Hart pub for evening drinks in the sunshine. One day we ventured into Stamford to enjoy a bit of shopping and a luxurious lunch at the George Hotel. After our adventures we came home to enjoy the beautiful property, comfortable living space, and picturesque outdoor space. We highly recommend and hope to return sometime soon!
Very romantic, cozy property. The owners have gone to a great deal of effort to make your stay as wonderful as possible. We loved everything. We had great fun on the tandem bike, enjoyed “Fred’s walk”, and the local area is really lovely. All the finishing touches really make this property let something extra special. Winters evening, sat by the fire, with a glass of wine and your loved one – bliss. Would definitely recommend to others
The property was perfect for our 2 night birthday weekend celebrations. The property has been designed thoughtfully to a very high spec, with great attention to detail. The host Andrew was very attentive but not intrusive in any way. We will certainly be returning in the future and would highly recommend this to anyone thinking of a quiet, comfortable and idyllic weekend away.
We had an amazing stay – the cottage is beautiful and decorated in stunning style. The hosts were great, very responsive and and left a very fun and much appreciated treasure hunt for Prosecco! The location is lovely and peaceful with a great little pub within walking distance (30ish mins, depending on how many drinks!), good food and very friendly locals. Stamford town is lovely too. This is a perfect location for a chilled, romantic weekend… we had to drag ourselves away to leave!
We had a lovely peaceful weekend. The barn was beautiful, tastefully decorated and felt rustic yet with all the modern amenities you could want. The perfect peaceful retreat for couples; Andrew was a great host who responded to all our queries and helped us have a smooth weekend. Pea cottage was a great size for a couple, very well heated and cosy with a nice fireplace and a hot power shower. The kitchen has everything you could need for a lovely meal, with a Waitrose at a 15 minute drive away. Highly recommend Pea cottage for a beautiful and relaxing weekend in the country
We stayed at Pea Cottage for our 10th anniversary, and had a lovely time. Andrew was super helpful and easy to contact, but never overbearing! The cottage was clean, tidy, beautiful, warm and welcoming. We were comfy and content the whole time, and felt like we were really able to relax. We loved the ‘Crystal Maze’ challenge, and the balloons with the balloon modelling book were fun! 😉 We also loved the swing on the old oak tree. Beautiful! We also liked the ‘Fred’s Favourite Walk’ direction cards – but 4 miles felt a bit too energetic for us this time! Location is rural, peaceful and quiet, but with quick and easy access for towns, shopping and things to do. We visited Burghley House which was only about a 5 minute drive away, and was a brilliant day out, and Stamford which has lots of independent little shops and a really quirky ‘hidden sites’ map for a nice walk if you fancy hunting for interesting and unusual historical sites or points of interest. Overall, thoroughly recommend.
Idyllic. One word sums up Pea Cottage. We walked in to a Crystal Maze quiz – brilliant fun. One of our favourite things was the record player – what a pleasure. The accommodation is finished to the highest standard and I cannot recommend highly enough. Just beautiful. Thank you to our wonderful hosts. Will definitely return.
Love this place. It is stunning and so quiet . The cottage is beautifully decorated to such a high standard and a perfect quiet retreat. Great communication from the host who we met who made it a perfect stay. Highly recommendLove this place. It is stunning and so quiet . Reluctant to leave, such a tranquil spot! Supurb in every way!
This place is really magical. It is beautifully appointed and the bed is ridiculously comfortable. The tandem bike got us all around Stamford and over to Burghley House as well as to the local pub. The kitchen is well-equipped and allowed us to make all of the meals we required. All in all this place made our bank holiday weekend just perfect. We would definitely stay again!
So often you look at photos of a property and when you get there, they don’t live up to your expectation. Please do not have that fear with this property – it is perfectly kept, stylishly finished and in the ideal location for being fantastically remote and yet having pubs and activities within easy reach. I went here with my girlfriend for 3 nights and we couldn’t have asked for more. We spent our days running, cycling and having the odd beer in local pubs. The kitchen is perfectly equipped for evening meals (we cooked all 3 nights).
We wanted somewhere relaxing to get away from it all and have some time to ourselves before our baby is due, in a couple of months. The cottage was perfect, with stunning interior design, luxurious and homely. The bed and sofas are so comfy and having always wanted an Everhot, this is my dream cottage. Thank you so much.
We have just returned from a fantastic 2 night stay at Pea Cottage.
We were very impressed with the design and decor and also the barn is huge, with a great woodburner and an Aga which I loved using.
Very comfortable sofas to enjoy some Netflix – also provided.
Andrew has a tandem bike for guests to use, surprising easy to ride – which we used to cycle to the local pub – The White Hart.
We would not hesitate to recommend Pea Cottage, a fantastic stay – thank you so much..
Stunning cottage in a beautiful and peaceful setting . Loved watching wildlife and birds .Andrew the owner was very helpful . Good idea about buying provisions at cottage but would have been useful to have known in advance . Visited Stamford , parking not easy . also Oakham – lovely tea-rooms by the church .We also went to Belton House , good tour around the downstairs . We are hoping to go again.
We visited Stamford this weekend for a friend’s wedding. The hotels in Stamford seemed a little expensive, so we booked this cottage instead. Definitely the right decision!
With free parking adjacent to the cottage, it was very easy to unpack. Upon entry, we were totally wowed by the quality of the fixtures and fittings. The airy, open plan layout was lovely. We especially liked the rustic charm of the wooden beams, stone floors and country kitchen. The wood burner is a lovely touch too! Oh did I mention the bed…it’s massive and super comfy!
The cottage looks good in the photos, but in real life it is even better!
Thank you so much for a perfect stay!
Our stay was absolutely perfect! The barn is in a stunning location. We arrived and the cottage was warm and inviting. It has been finished to the highest standard and is simply beautiful. The hosts were wonderful and made sure that if we needed anything then they were just a knock or call away (we didn’t contact them during our stay as there was simple no need) we will already be returning as it was definately a 5* stay! Thank you!!
