The cottage was really lovely and particularly the wildflower meadow they had outside provided some really nice views. Andrew was on hand with any queries we had quickly and was very helpful, then left us to it which we thought was nice. The area was beautiful- the loveliest countryside, Stamford town is pristine, really historic with some nice pubs and shops. We also visited Burghley Park, Rutland water park (recommend hiring a bike) and Barnsdale Gardens which were unbelievable. Couldn't recommend it more for a couple of days away.

Our stay was absolutely perfect! The barn is in a stunning location. We arrived and the cottage was warm and inviting. It has been finished to the highest standard and is simply beautiful. The hosts were wonderful and made sure that if we needed anything then they were just a knock or call away (we didn't contact them during our stay as there was simple no need) we will already be returning as it was definately a 5* stay! Thank you!!

Very impressed with the standard of everything from the comfortable bed to the comfortable sofa and throw. The warmth of the property and the lovely soft towels. Shower and bath both amazing! We enjoyed the log burner whilst cuddled up, overlooking nature and enjoying the peace and quiet. The broadband was also high speed so that kept my partner very happy. The record player was a lovely little touch with some candles lit whilst getting ready to go into the beautiful Stamford. Stamford was only about 10 minutes in a taxi so we got to enjoy the tourist side as well as some private peaceful time out. We took our own food and extras for self catering and the cottage had everything we needed to cook and clean, making it feel very homely. The owners communicated by text and were very welcoming and accommodating to any requests. The only negative was that our time in the cottage went too fast. We will definitely be coming back. What a treat!!!

We visited Stamford this weekend for a friend's wedding. The hotels in Stamford seemed a little expensive, so we booked this cottage instead. Definitely the right decision! With free parking adjacent to the cottage, it was very easy to unpack. Upon entry, we were totally wowed by the quality of the fixtures and fittings. The airy, open plan layout was lovely. We especially liked the rustic charm of the wooden beams, stone floors and country kitchen. The wood burner is a lovely touch too! Oh did I mention the bed...it's massive and super comfy! The cottage looks good in the photos, but in real life it is even better! Thank you so much for a perfect stay!

So often you look at photos of a property and when you get there, they don't live up to your expectation. Please do not have that fear with this property - it is perfectly kept, stylishly finished and in the ideal location for being fantastically remote and yet having pubs and activities within easy reach. I went here with my girlfriend for 3 nights and we couldn't have asked for more. We spent our days running, cycling and having the odd beer in local pubs. The kitchen is perfectly equipped for evening meals (we cooked all 3 nights)

Our top FOUR things to do in Stamford

We’ve listed four things to do during a weekend break to Stamford, but you could have just as much fun heading off on a picturesque country walk. There is a public foot path near to the cottage to take you on some lovely circular routes through open farmland. Distances varying from 1.5, 4.5 or 1O miles.
